PINE RIDGE, South Dakota - The Strong Heart Warrior Society continues to ask both Native and non-native supporters to call, fax and email Oglala Sioux Tribal Government officials and Police Chief Everett Little Whiteman to get accountability for the Sunday night police raid on activist Duane Martin Sr.'s home in Sharp's Corner following a "set-up" false call from an area drug dealer.

On Sunday night December 19, nine Oglala Tribal Police officers raided Duane Martin's house in Sharps Corner following a tip call alleging a "house party" where drugs and alcohol were present. Duane, 22 years sober, is a well known activist and is widely recognized for leading Strong Heart and the Lakota people in stands against drug dealing, bootlegging, and the scourge of alcohol sales in White Clay, Nebraska. Police officials have since admitted they did not follow up on the false call and did not have plans to investigate.

This raid is one insult in a larger series of actions that has targeted Duane and Strong Heart for their stand against drugs and alcohol. Officials in the Oglala Tribal Government and Tribal Police with ties to these illegal activities have made a concerted effort to intimidate, discredit, and deny the efforts of Duane and Strong Heart to protect the Lakota People.

In November, Duane led Strong Heart in a show-down with Tribal Police when thirteen traditional Grandmothers were arrested for "inciting a riot" because they protested then Tribal Council President Theresa Two Bulls. Following a threatened take-over of the Tribal Government offices by Strong Heart, the Grandmothers were released without charges. Within the last two weeks, Duane's use of his residence in Sharp's Corner has been threatened by Oglala Tribal Housing and custody of his son was awarded to a known drug dealer and sex-offender by a retiring Oglala Court Judge Patrick Lee.

Strong Heart is planning a protest in the Sharp's Corner community on Pine Ridge, Friday December 24. A press conference kicks-off at 10:00am. Protest march begins at 1pm.

New Subpoenas Issued to Palestine Solidarity Activists.

December 20, 2010 – The Palestine Solidarity Group-Chicago (PSG) strongly condemns the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s continued harassment and repression of solidarity and anti-war activists with the issuance of five new subpoenas in the Chicago area to Palestine solidarity activists on Friday December 3 and Wednesday December 8.

This continues the assault on the anti-war and Palestine solidarity movement that began on September 24th. This case began with 14 subpoenas delivered to anti-war, labor and solidarity activists in coordinated raids that swept the Midwest, involving scores of federal agents. A total of 19 people have been subpoenaed. “The FBI is continuing their campaign to intimidate the movement,” stated Joe Iosbaker of the national Committee to Stop FBI Repression. Iosbaker was one of those raided and subpoenaed in September.

These newest subpoenas are an attack on the Palestinian solidarity movement and an attempt to silence criticism of U.S. policy toward Israel. There is nothing criminal about standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people; demanding an end to U.S. military aid to Israel; and demanding an end to the occupation. There is nothing criminal about traveling to Palestine and coming back to educate the U.S. public.

We urge all people of conscience and those who stand in solidarity with the Palestinians to join us in calling for an end to political repression, both here and abroad, as we continue to support the movement for self-determination for the Palestinian people.

"Physician of the poor" Sentenced To Life In Prison.

The renowned Indian physician and human rights activist Dr. Binayak Sen has been sentenced to life in prison. On Friday, Dr. Sen and two others were convicted in court in India on charges of sedition and conspiracy.

Described as India’s most famous political prisoner, Dr. Sen is known as the "physician of the poor." He spent many years working as a doctor in the rural-tribal areas of Chhattisgarh in central India and reported on unlawful killings of indigenous people by the police and private militias. The region is the site of intensifying conflict between India’s central government and the Maoist Naxalites.

In May of 2007, Dr. Sen was charged under the the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Chhattisgarh Special Public Safety Act. The allegations against him ranged from helping the Maoist insurgency, being a member of a terrorist organization, to waging war against the Indian state.

In a statement released after his conviction, Amnesty International called Dr. Sen a "prisoner of conscience." Asia-Pacific director Sam Zarifi said, quote, "This sentence will seriously intimidate other human rights defenders who would provide a peaceful outlet for the people’s grievances... Amnesty International believes that the charges against Dr. Sen are baseless and politically motivated," the statement said.

Let Me Say It Again for You Dummies: Nothing Short of Armed Struggle Will End Police Terrorism.

"City attorneys announced Tuesday they won't file misdemeanor assault charges against two Seattle police officers who stomped a prone Latino man in April, including a detective who sparked a public outcry when he used ethnically inflammatory language during the videotaped incident.

The decision regarding Detective Shandy Cobane and patrol Officer Mary Lynne Woollum comes after the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office decided in September not to charge Cobane with malicious harassment, a felony, under the state's so-called "hate crime" law.

"Though the incident was marred by an unacceptable and unnecessary racist comment, our office concludes that neither officer's conduct was criminal, and I decline to file misdemeanor charges," City Attorney Peter Holmes said in a written statement."

An illegal immigrant shot by police at a downtown Seattle bus stop last week is out of the hospital and in King County Jail. Jose M. Cardenas-Muralta was booked for investigation of assault and weapons violations. He is being held on $250,000 bail, according to prosecutors.


Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, said they expect to file charges by Wednesday.

Cardenas-Muralta, 38, was deported from Washington to Mexico in 2008 and is in the country illegally, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He has a criminal history in Washington. He will be deported again once the criminal proceedings against him are resolved, according to ICE's Lorie Dankers.

Cardenas-Muralta was shot in the torso by Seattle police Officer Chris Myers a week ago Tuesday after police got a call reporting a man brandishing a weapon.


When Myers and a partner responded, the man was uncooperative and tried to walk off, so the officers tried to corner him. Police said one officer got out his Taser and then saw the suspect reach into his waistband and grab what appeared to be a metallic object.


The officer dropped the Taser and shot Cardenas-Muralta, police said. Police found an unloaded handgun in Cardenas-Muralta's waistband.

Take note how the corporate-woned media helps justify this by going on and on about his immigration status. Also, take careful note on how the City Attorney essentially says that this stomping was well within department use of force guidelines, given the circumstances. Really? I remember being at seminar for nightclub secuirty and being told by a rep from the Wa State Liquor Control Board that stomping unruly guests was considered assault, even if one claimed "self-defense" or "I was attempting to get control of the person."

Historical fact: when the Black Liberation Army was carrying out armed attacks against NYPD officers, both crime in the inner city and police brutality upon civilians went DOWN!

As someone who has gone full circle around this issue, there is clearly no other alternative than the one mentioned in the title of this article.

Amerikkkan Fascist Movement Targets First Nations Academic.

The jury in Churchill's lawsuit found that he was fired in 2007 in retaliation for the essay he'd written—and not because of research misconduct as CU's administration and Regents claimed. And they determined that he would not have been fired for academic misconduct in the absence of his essay.

But three months later, in early July 2009, Denver Chief Judge Larry Naves threw out the jury's verdict and ordered a directed verdict in favor of CU on the grounds that the trial should never have taken place. This decision was based on a finding that the CU Regents were acting in a "quasi-judicial" capacity—that is, as judges—when they fired Churchill, so they were immune from being sued.


Having thrown out the jury's verdict, Naves then went on to hypocritically invoke it—in a way that contradicted and cut the heart out of the essential content of the verdict. He claimed that the jury's decision to award only a nominal $1 damage award "compelled" him to deny reinstatement, because it would disregard the jury's "implicit" finding that Churchill had suffered no damages that warrant reinstatement.


Churchill would not be reinstated, and he was not entitled to lost earnings or a financial settlement. Read more here

Wikileaks: A Reality Show That Matters.

An attorney for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says he has heard that U.S. authorities have secretly empaneled a grand jury in Virginia in an attempt to indict Assange.

Attorney Mark Stephens made the claim in an interview with Al Jazeera. President Bush’s former Attorney General Michael Mukasey said he hopes to see Assange prosecuted under the Espionage Act of 1917; a law that was created in the wake of a popular culture of mass resistance to a draft enacted by then President Woodrow Wilson to supply fresh meat for the battlefields of World War 1 Europe and the Middle East.

Today in Seattle, and around the world, protests in support of Julian and Wikileaks were held. Also, a group from within the Wikileaks camp has now founded a similar site called Open Leaks, which is scheduled to launch next week.

Pharmaceutical Company Targeted Nigerian Attorney General; Haliburton Seeks Settlement.

 In 1996, 11 children died in a drug test of Pfizer’s antibiotic drug Trovan. A lawsuit brought by the Nigerian government said children also suffered injuries including deafness, muteness, paralysis, brain damage, loss of sight, slurred speech.

The latest diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks show the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer hired investigators to find evidence of corruption against the Nigerian attorney general to pressure him to drop legal action over fraudulent drug tests on Nigerian children.

The cable also reports Pfizer’s investigators passed information to the Nigerian media in an effort to tarnish the attorney general’s reputation. Pfizer reached a tentative settlement in the case last year of around $75 million.

Halliburton officials and those of KBR are proposing a "settlement" to resolve the widely embarrassing charges filed in Abuja last week seeking to commit Mr. Cheney to prison in Nigeria over his superintending of Halliburon in the 1990.Over $180 million in bribes to Nigerian ruling party officials as well as government ministers were handed out during that time. The allegations involve at least three former Nigeria Heads of State. Halliburton reportedly reduced its initial offer of $500 million to $30 million, but Nigeria officials at the negotiations have instead on higher figures and are also asking for Halliburton to persuade Swiss authorities to release to Nigeria the $100 million it had frozen as proceeds of crime. An extra $30 million frozen by authorities in Monaco is also expected to be released to the Nigerian authorities if the negotiations work out as planned. The entire exercise will add $150 million to the coffers of the Nigerian government.

Halliburton is also expected to pay legal fees as was those of the victims of the controversial Pfizer's illegal drug test settlements in Kano, Nigeria.

On December 9, 2010, thousands of Georgia prisoners are refuing to work, stop all other activities and remain in their cells in a peaceful, one-day protest for their human rights. The December 9 Strike is projected to be the biggest prisoner protest in the history of the United States.

These thousands of men, from Baldwin, Hancock, Hays, Macon, Smith and Telfair State Prisons, among others, state they are striking to press the Georgia Department of Corrections (“DOC”) to stop treating them like animals and slaves and institute programs that address their basic human rights. They have set forth the following demands:

A LIVING WAGE FOR WORK: In violation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution prohibiting slavery and involuntary servitude, the DOC demands prisoners work for free.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: For the great majority of prisoners, the DOC denies all opportunities for education beyond the GED, despite the benefit to both prisoners and society.

DECENT HEALTH CARE: In violation of the 8th Amendment prohibition against cruel and unusual punishments, the DOC denies adequate medical care to prisoners, charges excessive fees for the most minimal care and is responsible for extraordinary pain and suffering.

AN END TO CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENTS: In further violation of the 8th Amendment, the DOC is responsible for cruel prisoner punishments for minor infractions of rules.

DECENT LIVING CONDITIONS: Georgia prisoners are confined in over-crowded, substandard conditions, with little heat in winter and oppressive heat in summer.
NUTRITIONAL MEALS: Vegetables and fruit are in short supply in DOC facilities while starches and fatty foods are plentiful.

VOCATIONAL AND SELF-IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: The DOC has stripped its facilities of all opportunities for skills training, self-improvement and proper exercise.
ACCESS TO FAMILIES: The DOC has disconnected thousands of prisoners from their families by imposing excessive telephone charges and innumerable barriers to visitation.

JUST PAROLE DECISIONS: The Parole Board capriciously and regularly denies parole to the majority of prisoners despite evidence of eligibility.

Prisoner leaders issued the following call: No more slavery. Injustice in one place is injustice to all. Inform your family to support our cause. Lock down for liberty!

FBI repression of U.$. Anti-War and Solidarity Movements: Fitzgerald Expands Repression with 3 New Subpoenas.

Under the direction of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's office,the FBI is expanding their repression of anti-war and Palestine solidarity activists in Chicago.




On Friday, December 3, 2010, the FBI targeted three young women who traveled together to Palestine last summer.

After the FBI called to question a young Jewish-American woman, Sarah Smith, FBI agents knocked on the door  of two young Palestinian-American sisters. One sister was already on the phone with lawyer Jim Fennerty and handed the phone to the FBI, causing the FBI to leave. The FBI agents soon returned with subpoenas to the Grand Jury targeting anti-war and solidarity activists, dated for January 25, 2011. The three are standing strong with the other 14 subpoenaed activists from Illinois, Minneapolis and Michigan. Over 100 people protested in Chicago on Monday against the expanding repression.

Wealthy to Benefit Most from Obama-GOP Tax Deal

A new analysis shows that the wealthiest Americans will receive the most benefit from President Obama’s controversial fiscal deal with Republicans. This week, Obama agreed to extend the Bush-era tax cut for the wealthiest Americans and reduce the estate tax in return for a 13-month extension of jobless benefits and a handful of tax credits for low- and moderate-income Americans.

According to the New York Times, at least a quarter of the tax savings under the deal will go to the wealthiest one percent of the population. The plan’s $900 billion cost will be added to the federal deficit, not made up through spending cuts or the closing of loopholes that have taxed capital gains and dividends at just 15 percent. By contrast, the only group that will see its taxes increase are the nation’s lowest-paid workers. Individuals who make less than $20,000 and families with earnings below $40,000 stand to see tax hikes because Obama agreed to eliminate his Making Work Pay credit, which provided up to $400 for individuals and $800 for families of low and moderate income. Speaking at the White House, Obama rejected Democratic criticism of the plan, saying he was forced to compromise.

President Obama: "I’ve said before that I felt that the middle-class tax cuts were being held hostage to the high-end tax cuts. I think it’s tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers, unless the hostage gets harmed. Then, people will question the wisdom of that strategy. In this case, the hostage was the American people, and I was not willing to see them get harmed."
 Vice President Joe Biden met with Democratic senators on Tuesday in an effort to win support for the deal. Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has indicated he will attempt a filibuster to block its passage. Assessing the plan, Anne Mathias, an analyst with the brokerage giant MF Global, said, "It’s going to look like the rich are getting richer again."

Mike Huckabee, YOU are both a HYPOCRITE and a TRAITOR!

Former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said at a book signing event that Private First Class Bradley Manning should be executed: "Whoever in our government leaked that information is guilty of treason. And I think anything less than execution is too kind a penalty."

Bradley Manning was arrested in May, 2010 and currently sits in a military jail accused of providing the documents on amerikkka's wars in Iraq and Afgahnistan that have been released on Wikileaks.

 

 
It is the hypocracy of these elected fascists that I just can't stand. For example (and to use Huckbee's logic for one second), Huckabee routinely recieves campaign contributions from martial arts legend and Christian fascist Chuck Norris. Norris has publically called for the succession of Texas from the United States via armed struggle. Here's a snippet of the interview from Glenn Beck's website: 
 
GLENN: Americans will, they just, they won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up. And they said, where's that going to come from? And I said Texas, it's going to come from Texas. Do you agree with that, Chuck, or not?


NORRIS: Oh, yeah. You know, Texas is a republic, you know. We could actually --

GLENN: It was a country before it was a state.
NORRIS: Yeah, we could break off from the union if we wanted to.
GLENN: You do, you call me.

NORRIS: Oh, yeah.

Is this not colluding with terrorists, by your logic, Mr. Huckabee? Are you you next going to call for the executions of anyone who has read, published, or posted about the leaked documents?

The game of you and yours is to export the jobs that help keep the people in the U.$. docile enough to willingly and unquestioningly assist you and yours in the grand exploitation of the entire world (even as your forces oppress those who willingly work for you and the system generally), while importing the very same brutal methods of the police and military of the 3rd world dicktatorsh*ts you and yours prop up (and in fact helped arm and train) to use upon the very people who in fact allow you to live the lifestyle you have by the sweat of their brow?

So, you and yours write and vote in favor of policies that exploit the proletariat of the 3rd world and oppress us crumbcatchers (that's what affirmative action and trickle-down economics has made most of us; despite all the loud talk, clown suits, and pawnshop bling) in the 1st world; and then scream when someone produces evidence of who, what, where, when, why, and how this happens?

If you were really concerned with troops being harmed, you would demand an immediate withdrawl (or, would have not co-signed on this with Bu$h in the begining). Sadly, you're a bastard; and this is not in your interests, or in the interests of your actual (read: paying) constituents.
